Here stood the house of the Enbils, where an anchovy salting plant was opened in the early 20th century. Nevertheless, it is mainly known due to the fact that the lyric singer Pepita Enbil (1918-1994) was born there. This great zarzuela singer, after crossing Europe with the choir “Eresoinka” during the Spanish civil war (1936-1939), sang at the Calderón Theatre (Madrid) from 1940 to 1945 and founded the so-called Ases Líricos company. Afterwards, she went to Mexico, where she founded a successful company in association with her husband, the baryton Plácido Domingo Ferrer. In 1941, they had a son: the well-known tenor Plácido Domingo Enbil.
