Pabloenecoa’s House

In this part of the town, where there still last several 16th and 17th rich houses, stood in the past the “Pablonecoa House”, so called because of Pablo de Agote. Agotes’ family gave many explorators, navigators and traders to 18th century history. Among them, Mr. Manuel de Agote worked as an agent of the Royal Company of the Philippines in Canton and Macao, until 1797. He was also an active scientist, as his ethnographic, historic, nautical and cosmographic observations show. Domingo de Bonechea, his cousin, discovered Tahiti archipel in 1772.
