Festivities in honour of the patron saint of the old island, San Antón. Txakoli Day is celebrated as part of this festivity.
Day of txakoli
JANUARY
Coinciding with the festival of San Antón, every year the Getaria Txakoli harvest is presented in a small private ceremony in the Balenciaga Museum lasting 30-45 minutes. This is followed by the popular celebration at midday in the Getaria pelota court, where the txakolis of the registered wineries can be tasted.

Festivity of San Salvador
AUGUST
The festivities in honour of the patron saint of Getaria are held in honour of San Salvador during the week of 6th August.
Desembarking of Elkano
AUGUST (every 4 years)
As part of Getaria's patron saint festivities and every four years, the disembarkation of Elkano is performed, in commemoration of the first round-the-world voyage completed by Juan Sebastian Elkano from Getaria. The staging represents the arrival from the port to Sanlúcar de Barrameda on board the ship Victoria, on 6 September 1522.
