From the mid-18th century onwards, interventions were limited to earlier alterations. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the ruins of the building housed everything from barracks for troops to facilities for the canning industry. In this sense, reinforced concrete slabs and an uralite roof were built for the salting shed, and a canopy was installed in the slaughterhouse.

At the end of the 20th century, a major preventive intervention was carried out, with the intention of halting the effects of the ruin of the building and reinforcing it structurally. To this end, a large number of joints were filled with cement, and most of the small openings were filled in the same way. The larger holes and openings were filled with cement and hollow bricks. The structures were also bolted. This gave the building the appearance that Zarautz Jauregia had until a few years ago.
