Here stood the so-called “Guetaria” House, General Antonio de Urquiola’s home. He became one of the main generals of the Navy during the last years of Philip II’s kingdom. In 1592 he commanded a galleon squadron. Since he held the post of “Overseer of Plantations and Shipbuilding”, he stimulated oak planting all over the province. In 1598, he supervised the building of several vessels for the Navy at the port of Pasajes.
